Seminar Overview:
Conflict occurs in all families at some time, to some degree. But when elder care issues arise, there seems to be an increase in family tensions. This seminar will address ethical issues facing professionals whose task it is to help families through these conflicts and create the best possible solution for all concerned. Several conflict scenarios will be discussed as well as strategies for intervention, working with a team of professionals.

Who Should Attend:
Nurses and social workers in the geriatrics field; elder law attorneys; and others who work with elders.

CEU Note:
Seminar will meet the social worker requirements
for 6 CEU Hours for Ethics; and 6 CLE Hours with
1 Hour of Ethics for attorneys.

Specific Workshop Goals Will Include:

  • Identify ethical issues inherent in family conflict/intervention
  • Hone skills and methods of assessing the issues at hand
  • Become aware of ethical pitfalls and how to avoid them
  • Review and discuss legal documents necessary for end-of-life/estate planning
  • Learn how different professionals can work together to provide
    comprehensive assistance to families
